Samsung Galaxy S30 Ultra Render 2

Though it may launch next year, the world got its first supposed look at the Samsung Galaxy S30 and Galaxy S30 Ultra last week. Renders suggest that the firm’s next flagship will be an evolution of the S20’s design, especially at the rear.

While the perforated center camera is still present, the rear camera matrix is now integrated into the side of the phone with a distinctive glossy finish. Also gone is the camera hump similar to the Galaxy A series. I’m not a fan of either one and we weren’t true fans of the design of the Galaxy S20 as a whole. In our review, we called the S20 Ultra, in particular, a visual yawn.

But what do you think of the possible adjustments? We asked readers if the leaked design of the Galaxy S30 is acceptable or deserves to be destroyed. This is what you told us.

What do you think of the leaked design of the Samsung Galaxy S30?

Results

If Samsung is really planning these design changes, it apparently got over it. Almost two thirds of Android Authority readers like the new look to a degree. 25.8% said they “love it”, while 33.3% voted “I like it very much, but it could be better.”

We’ll give Samsung one thing: the design is certainly distinctive. In today’s smartphone climate, adventurous lines and curves have evaporated. It has become more difficult to immediately differentiate between different phones. This design adjustment should give the firm’s range leader a more distinguished design identity.

While the main review of the rear camera design obviously draws attention, some of the comments focus on the punch-hole selfie camera. Users are likely to expect Samsung to debut the phone with an on-screen selfie camera. Some also believe that the phone would look much better if the headphone jack came back.

Unsurprisingly, not everyone loves the Galaxy S30. 26.6% of users “don’t like it”, but they don’t think the design is “horrible” either.

Finally, 14.3% of voters can’t stand the redesign at all, criticizing the “I hate it” option. Some designs will appeal to different users, so it is not surprising that a portion of the voters are not convinced.

Still, this is an early leak. It can be a mannequin based on the first dimensions and sketches. Either way, it’s clear that Samsung won’t offend too many users this time around with this design.

This is what you had to say

  • sonicsynth2000: Samsung really must have a thing against people who like to put their phones on a table without a cover.
  • Shizuma: Hard to pass because of the piercer, but really, if manufacturers are going to insist on putting these massive and expensive camera tumors on the back of phones instead of just making the whole phone thicker and putting in a battery bigger then they really need to stop with this stupid corner tumor placement that causes the phone to rock back and forth when used while lying on a surface.
  • bloodless: I still see a hole-punch camera on the front and an asymmetrical camera with a bulge on the back. They have not improved anything.
  • Jeffrey: Looking at it doesn’t give much reason to upgrade from the S20 line of phones.
  • Sandeep: Back is definitely interesting compared to the boring S20.
  • OmJo93: It would look much better with a headphone jack in my opinion.
  • Nix: It looks a lot like the s20. Not bad, but the only real difference I see here is the camera. If that’s what it sounds like, I hope they have some new stuff under the hood to make it worthwhile.
  • daftrok: I really hate camera shots. It seemed like Samsung started off with a huge bump on the S6 and then started leveling it off to the point where there was hardly a bump on the S10 series. Then they just went nuts with the S20 and ripped out the headphone jack.

That’s it for this Samsung Galaxy S30 survey. Thanks to everyone who voted and expressed their opinion. If you have any additional comments on the Galaxy S30’s rumored design, or the results of our survey, be sure to leave them in the comment section below.
