Genshin Impact
At long last, Genshin Impact players will finally see the introduction of a new playable character, the first of many that will no doubt arrive in the game over the next few weeks, months and years.
Unsurprisingly, that character is Klee, who was in beta and who you can “try” on a rank 32 adventure story mission, but he hasn’t actually been in the game to date. That is about to change.
Late last night miHoYo announced that Klee will arrive in a new “banner” event to replace Venti. In gacha terms, that’s just a code to introduce a new character that players can spend in earned or paid currency to try and “roll.” And Klee is a 5-star character, which means his drop rates are very, very low.
There is a bit of confusion as to when exactly this begins. Genshin’s tweet says that it will be on October 20 at 6:00 p.m. server time. If “server time” is for China, then it would be 6 AM ET on Tuesday. And yet Venti’s banner expires later tonight at 7pm ET. So either there will be a stretch of a day and a half or so without a prominent banner, or we are not interpreting the time / date correctly.

If the Klee banner works the same way as the Venti banner, the odds will be:
A 0.6% chance of getting a 5-star character. And then a 50% chance that the 5 star is Klee instead of one of the others. But after 90 tries, a 5-star character is guaranteed. You don’t want to know how much 90 attempts cost.
Beyond Klee, however, some players are excited about the other “top rate” 4-star characters, as there are three existing heroes that will account for 50% of the 4-stars. They are:
- Noelle (Geo, Claymore)
- Sucrose (Anemo, Catalyst)
- Xinqiu (Hydro, Sword)
Some players are particularly eager to get the underrated sucrose, and the point of this is not only to get these heroes, but also to get duplicates to rank their constellations and unlock even more powers for them. These three are replacing Barbara, Fischl, and Xiangling, who I would say are more useful overall, but I’ve gotten a fair amount of each at the moment. And I managed to get Venti.
Again, we don’t know exactly when this starts. Please check back at 7pm ET to see if it could go off when Venti’s banner expires, but if not, it looks like maybe it’s Monday or Tuesday. This banner will probably last until patch 1.1 in November, and then we’ll get a new one after that. Get grinding. Or spend, I guess.
