Since the country will open schools at the end of October, the Ethiopian Ministry of Education said it will distribute 50 million masks to schools across the country as schools for free.
This was indicated on Wednesday at the ceremony of delivery to the Ministry of some 5 million masks produced in the Hawassa Industrial Park. The remaining 45 million masks are claimed to be produced in the coming weeks.
It is indicated that of the total of 50 million masks, 23 million will be distributed to students below the third grade, including those in kindergarten. Schools with students in grades 40-12 will receive the remaining 27 million masks.
The ministry indicated that it will distribute the masks to all schools in the country before the schools reopen. After the outbreak of the global pandemic, all schools have been closed for the last six months. So far, some 1,400 people in Ethiopia have lost their lives, while more than 80,000 cases are reported in the country.
