It looks like Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Juventus’ Champions League clash against Barcelona, which means a reunion with old enemy Lionel Messi is out of the question.
It comes after the 35-year-old man tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday.
The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed the news, saying: “Cristiano Ronaldo was discharged from training with the national team after a positive test for Covid-19, so he will not face Sweden.”
“The Portugal international is doing well, without symptoms and isolated.
“After the positive test, the remaining players were retested on Tuesday morning, and they all tested negative and are available for Fernando Santos to train this afternoon.”
Although Ronaldo has not shown any symptoms, it will mean that he will have to isolate himself for two weeks.
And that will cause the forward to miss some important games for Juventus, the first will be this weekend.
La Vieja faces Crotone in Serie A as they look to rebound from a 2-2 draw against Roma before the international break.
And then Juve will face Dynamo Kyiv in their first Champions League match on October 20.
On October 28, exactly two weeks and one day after Ronaldo’s positive, the Serie A champions face Barcelona in Turin.
It will be a powerful test for both parties, who have the ambition to win the competition.
And it’s also a chance to see Ronaldo take on his former rival Messi for the first time since the Portuguese left Real Madrid.
But the former Manchester United star must be completely coronavirus-free for at least a week before he can play.
It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will be given the go-ahead or not.

And it will be a race against time to include him in any lineup, regardless of the outcome of any additional Covid-19 tests.
Ronaldo has started the season in good shape after scoring three in two games in Serie A.
But he was prevented from increasing his account earlier this month after Juventus’ clash with Napoli was postponed.
