ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia

Azerbaijan demands not only an immediate and total withdrawal of Armenian troops from all Azerbaijani territories, but also urges Armenia to give a timetable for it, said the Azerbaijani ambassador to Ethiopia.

Ambassador Elman T. Abdullayev reiterated his government’s call during an interview with the Anadolu Agency at its office in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

“We not only demand the total withdrawal of all Azerbaijani territories, but we also demand that they give us a timetable of when and how they do it,” he said.

He said that the silence of the international community was to blame for the continued Armenian occupation of the Azerbaijani territories and made reference to the decision of the United Nations Security Council of April 30, 1993 in which Armenia was asked to withdraw. of the Azerbaijani territories “immediately and unconditionally”.

He said that the international community made a mistake in describing the situation between the two countries as a “frozen conflict”, when in fact, it was very dangerous and active that threatened the stability of the region.

“Impunity generates crimes; impunity encourages other crimes, “he said, adding that” we have to respect the territorial integrity of the states.

“Sovereignty and territorial integrity is the most sacred international principle,” he said, but accused the international community of “turning a blind eye.”

“They launched ethnic cleansing (in the Azerbaijani territories they have been occupied for three decades)”, lamented the ambassador and they commit these crimes with “false excuses such as self-determination”.
