Short break at Baldur’s Gate 3
To get some rest, the player must click on the closed eye icon that will be present on the right side of the minimap. After the player takes a short break, they will spend 15 minutes of time in the game, recovering a portion of HP for party members. It’s one of the best ways to heal yourself without wasting extra spells or potions.
Players can use this short break at any time when they are not in combat. One thing to keep in mind is that this short break will be allowed only once before the character needs to take a long break to finish the day. After using it once, the icon turns gray for a specified period of time.

Long rest at Baldur’s Gate 3
To take a long break, all you have to do is camp. To do this, players must click on the campfire icon on the right side of the minimap. Like the short rest, the long rest can be possible at any time outside of a combat situation. This will send the player to camp, then the player should head to whatever bed is available and sleep. Doing this will restore abilities, HP, and spells, and time will advance 8 hours.
In this early access, players will be able to choose from six classes: Cleric, Ranger, Fighter, Rogue, Warlock, and Wizard. A total of eight races along with a few sub races to choose from. Players will need to create a custom character during Early Access, but they can also recruit the five characters from the game below into their party:
- Astarion – Elf / Vampire Rogue
- Gale – Human Wizard
- Lae’zel – Githyanki Warrior
- Shadowheart – Half-Elf Cleric
- Wyll – Human Warlock
