Innovative phone with many functions

Samsung recently launched the company’s premium phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, in India for Rs. 149,999. It offers a huge improvement over its predecessor, both in terms of design and internal hardware. I’ve spent quite a bit of time with the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 and here are my thoughts.

Design, build quality and display

One of the biggest changes we’ve noticed with the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the large front display. Compared to the first-generation model, which is equipped with 4.6-inch HD + AMOLED. Its successor has a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED HD + (2260 x 816p) cover display with a pixel density of 386 ppi (pixels per inch) and a 10-megapixel camera. This is much better for entering messages, even viewing notifications, and especially during photo shoots. .

Inside is a wider 7.6-inch ultra-slim dynamic 2X AMOLED Infinity Flex QXGA + (2208 x 1768p) display with a 22.5: 18 aspect ratio and 373 ppi pixel density. The large notch in the upper right corner of the predecessor has been replaced by a smaller 10MP sensor, which increases the area of ​​the function screen.

The display supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This improves the viewing experience by several notches compared to other phones in its class. I had a lot of fun watching HD content and playing games on the big screen.

Another big change on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the improved concealment hinge that holds the phone’s ultra-thin glass. The company used a new Quad-CAM mechanism to integrate the hinge into the body of the device. This technology allows new experiences in a flexible way that allows users to bend the phone at various angles (between 75 and 115 degrees) and remain stable without falling backwards due to its weight (282 g). In addition, a small brush with small bristles is inserted into the space between the body and the hinge housing to repel dust and unwanted particles.

There is a volume rocker on the right and directly below it is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that functions as an on / off switch. It does a good job responding quickly to the thumb tap and is happy to note that it has a low false rejection rate.

The Mystic Bronze model like the Galaxy Note20 series looks stunning in sunlight and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus on the cover screen, the toughest screen protector in the industry. The metal back, however, is covered with Gorilla Glass 6.

The only problem is that the company does not offer the case with a retail box and users have to pay Rs 4,999 for Samsung’s premium leather case for the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Performance

Unlike Samsung’s other premium phones in India that come with an Exynos chipset, the company offers the Galaxy Z Fold 2 with Snapdragon 865 Plus, Qualcomm’s newest and most powerful processor in the industry. It supports OneUI 2.5 based on Android 10, 12GB of RAM and 256 of storage. It works like butter no matter what you put on it.

Camera

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 may not have top-tier camera hardware like the Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, but it’s still better than other premium phones on the market. Take brilliant photos in sunlight, even at night. Both the cover display and the inner display have a 10 megapixel camera and take good photos in natural sunlight. The company offers a variety of editing and augmented reality (AR) tools that, in turn, turn a gloomy photoshoot into a fun activity.

Final thoughts

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is an ingenious continuation of the first generation model and is designed to last longer. Unlike other competing brands, Samsung didn’t compromise on internal hardware to match the phone’s innovative foldable design.
