One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Studies have shown that the average age of women diagnosed with breast cancer in the United Arab Emirates is ten years younger than in other countries in the world, due in part to early detection and awareness of breast cancer. Open discussions and removing the stigma surrounding breast cancer is the first step in promoting screening and possible prevention, which is why UAE companies are doing their part to raise awareness during Awareness Month about Breast Cancer. Here is how you can help:
1. Get tested
According to Pink caravan, if breast cancer is found early, the survival rate could be as high as 98%. This breast cancer initiative holds free screenings on October 16 and 17 in La Mer from 4 to 10 p.m.
