After a few weeks of open beta testing, OnePlus has announced that it has started rolling out its major Oxygen 11 operating system update to its OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro phones. OnePlus says that if your OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro phone gets the update notification, you need to make sure the phone has at least 30% battery charge. Also, you must have at least 3GB of free storage space available on your phone.
While the Oxygen 11 OS skin is based on Android 11, this is a major design change that deviates from the nearly available Android look of previous versions. It even adds a new OnePlus Sans font for better readability. Other new features include the long-awaited always-on ambient display. The release also brings improvements to many apps and features, including Dark Mode, Weather app, and Zen Mode. There are plenty of improvements for gamers too, including a quick reply for Instagram and WhatsApp.
The Oxygen 11 OS update will roll out in the future for many older phones. They include OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus 7T, OnePlus 7Pro, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 6T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus Nord. It is expected to be available for the upcoming OnePlus 8T.
