The Google Assistant will soon have a guest mode. When enabled, interactions with the Google Assistant will not be saved to your Google account. Your data will not be used for personalized results, according to the search giant. The guest mode feature, designed to give you more control over your data, will be introduced in the coming weeks. Google has been rolling out a number of security and privacy features in the recent past due to privacy concerns.
By announcing the feature in a blog post, Google acknowledged that there are times when you may not want your interactions with the Assistant to be saved to your Google account; activating guest mode will ensure the same. By turning off guest mode, you will once again have a fully personalized Google Assistant experience. You can also go back and delete what you said to Assistant using your voice, a feature Google enabled last year.
Along with this, Google also said that it will introduce a redesigned critical alert system along with a new way to deliver it. When detecting a serious security problem in the Google account, it will automatically show an alert within the Google application for the user and help to fix it. These alerts are resistant to phishing, according to Google. This feature will see a limited rollout in the coming weeks and an expanded rollout early next year.
A similar feature was introduced to Google Maps last year. The app’s incognito mode does not save map activity to users’ accounts, including the places they are looking for and personalized recommendations.
Google said that the security of its products was based on three fundamental principles: keep your information safe, treat it responsibly and give you control.
The tech giant recently announced improvements to password security and other security features for the latest version of Chrome, as well as for the browser on Android and iOS. Chrome for mobile devices will alert you if any of your passwords that you have asked it to save have been compromised and will take you directly to the “change password” form to correct it. It was also releasing Enhanced Secure Browsing for Android and introducing a biometric authentication step before auto-filling passwords for iOS.
