If you are a fan of conspiracy theories, you may have heard that Samsung out of nowhere Galaxy S20 FE (for Fan Edition) risks infuriating those who just bought the S20 + to counter the greatest threat of Apple’s iPhone 12 with the same price.
Main differences in prices and specifications of the iPhone 12 vs Galaxy S20 FE:
- 6.1 “60 Hz vs. 6.5” 120 Hz displays
- 64GB base storage vs 128GB for $ 699
- 12MP / 12MP vs 12MP / 12MP / 8MP main / ultrawide / telephoto cameras
- 5nm A14 vs 7nm Snapdragon 865 processors
Apple iPhone 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S20 FE colors and screen size
- Black vs mint
- White
- orange
- Red
- Purple (lavender)
- blue
Surprise surprise, both phones would nurture your visual senses by being available in a variety of different colors for all tastes. Makes sense given its $ 700- $ 800 level which is generally aimed at a younger and more diverse audience.
No mint for the iPhone 12, but the Galaxy S20 FE doesn’t have a black version
Perhaps the main visible difference between the two phones, their screen diagonals and refresh rates (60Hz for the iPhone 12 vs 120Hz for the S20 FE), also becomes the main design differentiator, as the Galaxy S20 FE’s 6.5 “is slightly larger than the 6.1” iPhone 11 and 6.1 “iPhone 12 respectively, as you can see from the expected screen size and dimensions of the S20 FE vs iPhone 12 below:
- 6.5 “120Hz vs 6.1” 60Hz OLED displays
- 6.29 x 2.93 x 0.33 inches vs 5.94 x 2.98 x 0.33 inches
Apple iPhone 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S20 FE specs and battery life
- Apple A14 5nm vs Snapdragon 865 7nm chipset
- 64 vs 128 GB of base storage
- 4 GB vs 6 GB of RAM
- 2775mAh vs 4500mAh battery
For all intents and purposes, the iPhone 12 gives way to the Galaxy S20 FE in terms of raw specs and memory, except when it comes to the new Apple A14 processor, which is the only beast created in the 5nm process so far, while the Snapdragon 865 in the S20 FE is made with the 7nm method.
It goes without saying that neither phone will feel underpowered at maximum clock speeds hovering around the 3GHz mark, and yet Apple’s silicon computing capabilities, especially in the AR / VR rendering and graphics departments, they are second to none.
When it comes to battery life though, Apple isn’t doing its best in terms of capacity, and our review of the Galaxy S20 FE found it to be excellent in terms of battery life, given the 1080p display, so we hope it will. they dominate the iPhone 12 as does the 11.
Don’t even get us started on charging times as there will be no charger in the iPhone 12 box, however with the 20W one that Apple will sell separately it should at least reach the charging speed numbers of the Galaxy S20 FE.
Apple iPhone 12 vs Samsung Galaxy S20 FE camera
- 12MP / 12MP vs 12MP / 12MP / 8MP main / ultrawide / telephoto cameras
- Dual pixel AF, OIS and 7P lenses with F / 1.8 aperture
- 1.4 vs 1.8 micron pixels
- Ultra-wide camera lens aperture F / 1.6 vs F / 2.4
The 6.1 “iPhone 12 models have two cameras, while the Galaxy S20 FE has three, as Apple does what it did with the iPhone 11 series: it saves the telephoto camera and adds a LiDAR to the more expensive Pro version.
However, we would have larger 12MP sensors and pixels, with the ability to absorb more light and improved image stabilization on the iPhone 12 compared to the iPhone 11, so the comparison of the quality of the main camera with the Galaxy S20 FE will be a failure.
However, there is one thing the iPhone 12 won’t be able to do and the S2 FE will: a clean 3x optical zoom with the 8MP telephoto camera on the back of the Fan Edition phone. Get three for Samsung, after the best display and largest base storage for the price.
