A group of 13 restaurant workers from a Minneapolis steakhouse are currently marinating in a 14-day quarantine after attending a fundraiser for President Trump on Wednesday.
Operators of the Murray’s restaurant, located in downtown Minneapolis, issued a statement confirming the quarantine requirements for their employees Monday, though they say none of those workers came into “close contact” with Trump.
“Our staff were there to work alone on the party and at no time did any staff member approach the president,” the restaurant said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press. “Upon learning of the president’s positive COVID-19 test, we immediately enacted a 14-day quarantine for all personnel working in the party. In addition, each staff member who worked in the group will be tested for COVID-19. “
The event, which took place before the president spoke at a rally at Duluth International Airport, was held not at the downtown restaurant, but at the home of Marty Davis, CEO of Cambria, a countertop manufacturer. quartz.
Guests paid $ 100,000 per plate, AP reported.

Helene Houle, a guest at the fundraiser, further stated that all attendees were screened for COVID-19 before they were allowed into the fundraiser. Once inside, she also claimed that the tables in the dining room were “spread out,” but admitted that the chairs at the tables were normally spaced apart.
The president then spoke for “a good hour,” Houle said, and also posed for photos with attendees “6 to 8 feet away” before departing for the rally.
Dinner was served afterward, Houle told the AP.

A representative for Murray was not immediately available for comment. However, a representative for the restaurant told the AP that Murray’s is currently operating normally. (Minneapolis restaurants may currently be open for indoor dining with reduced seating.) It’s unclear if Murray’s 13 employees will be paid during their quarantine.

President Trump, meanwhile, left Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, despite the fact that his own medical team admitted at an earlier press conference that “he may not be completely out of the woods just yet.” White House physician Sean P. Conley, who made that statement, also claimed that once back at the White House, the president would be surrounded by medical personnel in proper personal protective equipment throughout the day.
Trump was transferred to Walter Reed on Friday, after receiving supplemental oxygen treatment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently recommends that those who are diagnosed with COVID-19 isolate themselves for a duration of “at least” 10 days in their own “sick room” with their own bathroom, if possible. Isolation may end if there are no more symptoms after that 10-day period, and only after there is no fever for the last 24 hours.
If the cases are more severe, and specifically if “you were admitted to a hospital and needed oxygen,” the CDC writes that healthcare providers may want to extend the duration of isolation required after a positive diagnosis.
