Despite his age and lack of Premier League experience, Cavani will immediately feel pressured to start running and score goals early on as he has been demanding a salary of £ 210,000 a week.

The attacker scored just seven goals in all competitions last season, his lowest record since the 2007/08 season when he played for Palermo.

However, former United striker Louis Saha is confident that Cavani will be a “prominent addition” for his former club.

“I thought Christmas was December,” the Frenchman tweeted.

‘Cavani is a first-rate signing. Scorer and great source of energy inspiration.

“Manchester United will dominate the transition due to their pace of work.”
