These Leaked 1.1 Patch Notes From ‘Genshin Impact’ May Be Fake

[ad_1]

I’ve been sent some supposedly leaked patch notes for Genshin Impact 1.1, the game’s first major update, and while the playerbase is starting to get excited about the massive amount of stuff they’re supposed to bring, the more I look at this, the more it seems possible that these are false.

Here are some of the biggest claims the new patch notes make:

  • At least two new characters, one added in AR 42.
  • A brand new map zone, Inazuma, accessible after AR 35.
  • New challenges for 8 players.
  • You can get Original Resin twice a day from Katherine at different times.
  • Gacha rates will no longer be displayed and the wish system will be changed to something where you are essentially guaranteed a choice of 4 or 5 star characters after a certain number of wishes with a new currency.

Wait, wait a second.

So that last bit is where an alarm started going off for me. Actually, it is illegal not to display porridge rates in China (and many regions) and I don’t think this system is sufficient to prevent that. It also sounds too much, too generous for a gacha system, even for Genshin. And finally, it would also bankrupt those who have already invested money (in some cases, a ton of money) in the game by suddenly offering a much better deal just a week or two after launch. This note does not make sense to me.

And one part looks like a resounding troll, that “Players can deactivate the characters that are hiding when they climb after confirming that they are over 18 years old.” Presumably this has to do with the camera angle, but … come on, is it real?

It’s not just that some of these notes sound too good to be true or too unlikely. According to a Chinese forum, gamers are discussing whether they should tell their “western” brethren that this is false or not, as they can see that this is spreading as fact through a certain number of English creators (who have also viewed). It is unclear if they have any direct confirmation that it is sure false, but there is absolutely no actual confirmation that it is real.

Certain things are obvious that will come true at some point, additional characters, additional map zones and so on. But I’d be surprised if they completely went over the entire wish system so soon, and the way they’re doing it is getting lost in translation or it’s just not true.

I’m not sure if this leak list is bogus or not, but I would have no illusions that everything on this wish list is coming to the game soon, if it ever will. There are many things here that do not add up, plus the original host country firmly believes that it is false. Hopefully we’ll get some actual patch notes and a date for an update soon.
