Fortnite’s new Wolverine triggers a bug that wipes out players’ inventory

Marvel’s Wolverine was the last superhero addition to Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 2 – Season 4. The early arrival of the character is welcome, but not without problems. Epic has confirmed the existence of a bug previously reported by players, one involving the player’s inventory and the built-in emote of the Wolverine character. Simply put, using the emote will wipe out your inventory.

The player’s inventory refers to the items he has in his ‘backpack’ – his weapons, heals, and other things that he has collected on the map. Losing your inventory when casting is obviously a big deal, especially if it happens late in the game when the island has been swallowed by the Storm and you only have a small piece of land to loot.

Epic’s tweet about the problem links the bug to FortniteIt’s Save the World mode, but players are reporting similar issues in other game modes as well. It’s unclear how many people are affected by the bug, whether it shows up every time the Wolverine emote is used or only sometimes.

A HUGE NEW MISTAKE with the Wolverine gesture that removes your weapons! by r / FORTnITE

The official solution to this bug right now is the most obvious one – Epic says to avoid using the Wolverine emote until you can get an official fix. The company acknowledged the issue on October 1, and since this is not a massive bug, we likely won’t see a fix coming until the game’s next patch is released.

Epic has the error listed with the status “important” and “investigating” in the official Fortnite Trello dashboard where you list bugs, fixes, and fix priority, among other things. If there is any element of good news, it seems that using the gesture will only remove one weapon at a time, so you have a chance to learn from your accidental mistakes.
