Google recently announced a new Google Assistant feature for Android users who would also feel at home in Android Auto. And it makes calls made while driving even more convenient.
The new capacity is called Wait for me, and you are supposed to use the Google Assistant to wait for calls until there is a response.
In other words, if you call a toll free number or try to reach a business that generally requires you to wait until a line is available, the Google Assistant can do everything for you and then alert you when a human actually responds.
This means that you no longer have to wait so many minutes listening to boring calls, as you can concentrate on the road while driving and wait for the Google Assistant to notify you when you can start talking.
The only problem for drivers is that the current implementation of the feature does not allow them to listen to music while the Google Assistant handles the call, but there is a possibility that the search giant will address this limitation in the next updates.
In this point, Wait for me It is currently available to only a handful of users in the United States and owns the recently announced Pixel 5 or Pixel 4a 5G. For now, only English calls to toll free numbers are supported.
It goes without saying that the availability of Wait for me It is quite limited, but this is only because the feature is still in its infancy and Google needs more data to improve its reliability before rolling it out for everyone.
The biggest challenge for Google is launching it in non-US markets and non-English speaking countries, although at this point it’s pretty clear that this is not a priority. It will take a while until Wait for me It becomes a thing, but the good news is that new methods of handling calls that could distract us while driving are on the way.
