The new Motorola Razr 5G
The year-end price war is intensifying. Yesterday, Best Buy and Amazon revealed price cuts for Samsung’s new Galaxy S20 FE, which has yet to be released. Today, the price of the new Motorola Razr 5G is also falling ahead of its official launch date of October 2.
9To5Google Y TechCrunch have reported that Motorola’s new foldable phone will get a $ 200 introductory discount if you buy it directly from Motorola’s site, Amazon or B&H Photo. There are also carrier deals, and T-Mobile is offering a 50% off starting price with a new contract. As always, buying unlocked is always better value for money.
The unlocked deal has a time limit, according to 9To5Google, though it’s unclear for how long. I contacted Motorola for more details.
The beefed-up specs and price reduction show that Motorola is starting on the front foot with its new device.
The non-5G Razr was delayed and when it finally landed in February, it faced immediate competition from Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, which had more impressive specs at a lower price point. Motorola was also quickly forced to back down when reviewers discovered that the plastic screen was peeling. CNET also conducted a crease test, which found that the device began to break after 27,000 creases. Although Motorola argued that the publication’s folding machine was not optimized for testing the Razr, so the test was inaccurate.
The new device, which I have been using for a couple of days, greatly improves the original. There is a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, which means it has 5G connectivity and better overall performance. There’s a 48 MP beefed-up rear camera, an equally powerful 20 MP front-facing camera, and a new cover screen feature (known as a “quick view” screen) that means you don’t have to open the phone to interact with it.
There is also an improved and more robust design. Motorola was eager to talk about how many twists the phone can handle at launch, which has apparently undergone extensive testing.
“We found that an average user changes the razr 40 times a day, while advanced users change the razr 100 times a day. Our lap cycle test showed that the razr is designed to withstand up to 200,000 laps, which means it would take a power user more than 5 years to reach that level of use. ”Motorola explained.
The update certainly brings the phone closer to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip, which is $ 200 off Amazon right now. I suspect we will see more price cuts from both companies for their flagship phones on Black Friday and in the run-up to Christmas.
