Treyarch has gone slowly, very slowly, revealing fragments of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War for the past few weeks.
It’s easily the latest reveal the Call Of Duty franchise has made, and it’s been done in stages.
First, we take a look at the campaign, which takes place during the height of the Cold War with Soviet Russia in the early 1980s, and stars a remarkably realistic Ronald Reagan. The trailer debuted in special mode in War zone and it was a very good experience overall.
Then we got the reveal of the multiplayer mode, which impressed me much less, followed by the open alpha that made me even more depressed about the game, a game that, by the way, will replace my current favorite shooter, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. It seems like a big mistake to me.
Next, we have the Zombies reveal for Cold War. This is a mode that practically has its own fan base. It’s a big reason why Treyarch is so popular. They could honestly release a standalone zombie game and it would be great.
And while it’s really not my cup of tea, I’m still curious to see what they have in store.
Since we didn’t get a zombie mode in Modern war, Treyarch’s fans Zombies Co-op will be especially excited for this one.
Treyarch has been teasing the big reveal through an elaborate series of puzzles and trailers on the PawnTakesPawn website and now it’s official – the first look at Cold War Zombies The mode will take place this Wednesday, September 30 at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET.
You’ll want to tune in to the official Call Of Duty YouTube channel to see the reveal. If I had to guess I’d say we’ll get a trailer, probably some kind of discussion streamed by the developers and then a live game from popular content creators, very similar to the reveal of multiplayer.
There’s no question that zombies go to great lengths every year, especially when Treyarch is in command. I suspect this will be another big fan hit. We will know sooner.
