Two mafia games break the Top Ten, but Mario is still in command | UK Box Charts

Super Mario 3D All Stars is September’s biggest game

There are two new games on the Top Ten physical retail charts this week, and both are in 2K Games’ Mafia series.

Mafia: Definitive Edition debuts at issue # 3 and is a remake of the 2002 original. This remake has been developed by Hangar 13, the team behind 2016’s Mafia 3. Meanwhile, Mafia Trilogy (which includes Definitive Edition, a remaster of the second game and Mafia III) is ranked No. 6. Neither product has sold particularly strongly in physical form, although it’s worth noting that digital data is not included in this chart.

One game that has sold well in physical form is Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which secures its second week at No. 1 on the UK physical charts. The game comfortably holds its position, despite sales down 78% during its debut week. Mario’s game collection ends the month as the UK’s best-selling boxed video game, just ahead of Marvel’s Avengers.

Speaking of which, Marvel’s Avengers is No. 2 on the charts after a 21% drop in sales week-over-week.

Last week’s other new releases fell from the Top Ten this week, with WWE 2K Battlegrounds dropping from No. 6 to No. 11 (sales were down 43% week-over-week), and PES 2021 fell from No. 9 to No. 11. 34 (sales fell 64%).

Things are now starting to pick up steam in physical retail with a series of big launches hitting the market. This begins this week with the release of Star Wars Squadrons and Crash Bandicoot 4. This is followed a week after the arrival of FIFA 21.

Here’s GfK’s Top Ten for the week ending September 26:
