If you’ve visited the UK Google Store in the past few days, you may have noticed a mysterious “one-day event” announced for Sunday 27th September.
The event is a 24-hour flash sale, in celebration of the company’s 22nd birthday, which reduces selected devices by 22%. Big-name devices like the Nest Hello Video Doorbell and Nest Hub Max are included in the deal.
Buyers can also get discounts on Nest Cam IQ Indoor / Outdoor Security Cameras, Nest Learning Thermostat, and Stadia Premiere Edition. To get the discount, buyers must enter “” GOOGLEBDAY22 “at checkout.
But there is bad news for bargain hunters hoping to buy a cheap Pixel phone, Google tells me that the Pixel 4a, Pixel Buds and Pixelbook Go are not for sale.
Google isn’t ashamed of discounts, it has cut the prices of its latest flagship Pixel phones in the last three Black Friday sales periods. It also discounts its Pixel phones intermittently throughout the year. But this sales event is one of the largest in the company.
The sale comes days before the search company unveils its next Pixel phone. Google has already announced that the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G are coming, but exact spec details have yet to be shared. Both phones are expected to house Qualcomm’s upper-mid-range Snapdragon 765G chipset, marking the first time in a few years that Google hasn’t used a top-of-the-line processor for its flagship phone.
Elsewhere, the Pixel 5 is rumored to have a larger 4080mAh battery and an ultra-wide lens, also a new addition for a Pixel phone. The Pixel 4a 5G will increase the performance and screen size compared to its cheaper brother, the Pixel 4a, which launched last month. It will be interesting to see how Google values the two new phones now that they both face serious competition from the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.
