Amazon will announce new products during a press event on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
Amazon typically hosts an annual press event at its Seattle, Washington headquarters to reveal products ahead of the holiday shopping season. But, due to the coronavirus, this year’s event will be online only. Amazon has used past events to announce all kinds of devices, from new Echo speakers to experimental glasses with built-in Alexa and even a smart microwave.
Amazon’s product strategy is a bit different than Apple’s. You usually try to sell low-cost products that you don’t make a lot of money on, but instead draw you into their ecosystem of services like Prime Video, Kindle, Amazon App Store, Amazon Music, and of course, buying from Amazon. .com.
This year, the devices can also help you boost sales during Amazon Prime Day, which is expected to start on October 13. In previous years, Amazon’s Fire TV, Kindles, Echo speakers and subscriptions to their services have been some of the best sellers. on Prime Day as they usually have deep discounts.
