Needless to say, Google itself is looking into all of this and has already promised fixes for the calling issue in Android Auto and Waze is no longer working properly after the Android 11 update.
When it comes to the overall performance of Android Auto, users still have mixed feelings, however the latest versions released on the Google Play Store seem to further refine the overall stability of the app.
Users who went to the store to post reviews after installing version 5.6 say that Android Auto is fantastic when it works, and while most people admit that some things still need to be improved, the app is heading in the right direction.
“Almost perfect. My biggest problem is the maps. It would be great to have the option to have the destination address always on the screen in a corner or something like that,”Says one user.
“Works great on Pixel 4 XL and VW 2019,”Someone else continues.
This does not necessarily mean that recently discovered bugs do not need to be corrected. Phone calls, for example, no longer work for some after installing Android 11 unless the device is unlocked, while Waze sometimes freezes occasionally on smartphones updated to the latest version of the operating system.
But the reviews published on the Google Play Store show that not everyone gets the same experience, despite the fact that at first glance they use similar hardware.
“Subaru + Pixel + Google Maps = Fantastic,”Explains an Android Auto. Ironically, Android Auto problems in Subaru cars are nothing new and, as I told you not too long ago, users are still struggling to find a way to get everything working in their cars, even with a Pixel phone.
At the end of the day, it’s very clear that the Android Auto experience depends on many factors, and while some say it comes down to cable, it’s actually more than that. Every little change, like a little app bug fix, could break an Android Auto feature, so right now your best bet is to report it to Google and hope that Android Auto will improve in the next update.
