Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk opened a long-promised event Tuesday showcasing advancements in battery technology, the fuel in the race between the Silicon Valley automaker and its rivals to win the races. sales of electric vehicles.

Musk called it the “Tesla drive-in movie theater.” He joked, “It’s a bit difficult to read the room with everyone in cars,” even when he was greeted by a chorus of speakers.
