Samsung does not usually give much fanfare to its non-flagship phones, except for a few models it launches in certain markets like India. However, with its upcoming “Unboxed for All Fans,” Samsung seems to be making a big fuss about it, although you probably already know what it will announce there. It looks like Samsung is making more than just a big fuss and is reportedly making a big gamble on the success of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition.
A Korean media report claims that Samsung plans to produce 10 million Galaxy S20 FE units in this year alone. That’s a pretty big number considering there are only 3 months left in the year and especially considering Samsung’s market performance in the last 8 and a half months. But it is exactly because of those disappointing numbers that Samsung is laying its eggs in the Galaxy S20 FE basket, hoping it can reclaim its lost territories in China and India.
Samsung’s own official teaser promises that the phone will have the most beloved innovations it has shown so far. It also suggests multiple color options, something it rarely does with its own premium phone series. Of course, both the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20, not to mention the Galaxy Z Fold 2, have brought “beloved” innovations, but they don’t seem to be suitable for this Fan Edition.
A leaked promo video for the phone sums it all up in camera features, aided by an expandable memory and long-lasting battery that supports wireless charging. All of that for an affordable price, Samsung suggests, though it may not be what many would consider “affordable.”
According to the same Korean report, the factory price of the Galaxy S20 FE starts at 800,000 KRW, roughly $ 690. That’s immediately more expensive than the iPhone SE 2020 and Samsung’s Galaxy A51 5G, which could make the phone more Hard to sell if it weren’t for the promise of more powerful photography skills.
