Addis Ababa – Federal Attorney General Gedion Timotios said that improving the rule of law, justice and fairness are the top priorities for his office during the current fiscal year.
The attorney general made the comment today at the opening ceremony of a workshop organized to discuss this budget year’s plan and the office’s ten-year strategy.
The Attorney General noted on the occasion that the justice sector in Ethiopia must offer more, as the country is at a critical juncture to build a democratic system, in addition to the multiple challenges it faces to achieve effective justice.
In this sense, according to him, the Attorney General’s Office has been making efforts to guarantee a modern justice system vital for the construction of democracy.
“We have a great agenda at the national level to be executed this year and our new structural changes are well under way to facilitate this,” he stressed.
Strengthening the professional capacity of staff and respect for ethics would be priorities for the year in order to ensure rapid and quality service delivery based on increased ethics and professionalism, he added.
Efforts will also be made to improve the efficient use of various technologies in an attempt to accelerate service delivery by creating a convenient way to handle files and documents.
The two-day workshop has brought together high-level officials and stakeholders.
