Qatar Charity launches urgent aid campaign for Sudan

(MENAFN – The Peninsula) Khartoum – Qatar Charity (QC) field teams began distributing urgent aid to the victims of the devastating, unprecedented flood in Sudan. The teams have delivered food packages, personal hygiene kits, mattresses and blankets to the most affected people in Ad-Damar and Berber in the Nile River State, as well as in Jabal Awliya and Bahri in Khartoum State.

The urgent humanitarian intervention is part of the aid campaign entitled “Peace for Sudan”, which was launched by Qatar Charity to provide urgent shelter and QR7.3mn food aid to affected people in Sudan. As part of the campaign, it is expected to benefit 75,000 people. Field teams will distribute study and medical tents and other shelter essentials, in addition to delivering tents to vulnerable families.

The flood is described as the worst in Sudan for a century, affecting more than half a million people and destroying more than 100,000 homes. In addition, 2,705 public services were damaged and almost 100 people died due to the floods.

Qatar Charity calls on the people of Qatar to support the victims of the floods in Sudan, who are in desperate need of emergency aid, and help them survive this humanitarian disaster, urging benefactors to contribute to the relief campaign.
