LG prepares Wing for take off

LG announced more details of a phone launch scheduled for next week, with a form factor described as new and different to be showcased with its new LG Wing device.

Rumors abound online speculating that the device will have two screens that will cross or rotate in some way. However, the provider kept the details of the phone a secret, simply stating that the experience delivered would be “impossible to create with conventional smartphones.”

LG Wing will be the first release of its so-called Project Explorer, a strategy announced by the company last week to design new user interfaces and form factors.

It is the manufacturer’s latest bet to differentiate itself and turn its fortunes in the hugely competitive smartphone segment.

The company has already tried to challenge its rivals with unusual features on its recent phones. Its LG G8X ThinQ, released in 2019, offered two separate displays in an apparent response to big-name rivals developing phones with flexible displays.

LG is scheduled to introduce the new device on September 14.
