KHARTOUM, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) – The Sudanese government and armed groups would sign the final peace agreement on October 2 in South Sudan’s capital Juba, a statement issued Sunday by the Sovereign Council of Sudan said.

This announcement was made by Tut Gatluak, head of South Sudan’s mediation team, according to the statement.

On August 31, the Sudanese government and nine armed movements under the Sudan Revolutionary Front signed a comprehensive peace agreement in Juba to end armed conflict.

The agreement included protocols for security, distribution of power and wealth, compensation for displaced people and refugees, land ownership, and justice and development.

Since October 2019, South Sudan has been mediating between the Sudanese government and armed groups in the Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile regions.

The Sudan Justice and Equality Movement, led by Jibril Ibrahim, the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) / Minni Minnawi faction, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) / northern sector and eastern opposition groups, center and northern Sudan, participated in the talks with the government.

However, the SPLM / northern sector did not sign the agreement, while the SLM / Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nur faction has refused to join the peace talks. Final product
