Mario Kart Live is the new augmented reality game that allows the player to turn their bedrooms or living rooms or wherever their environment is, into a racing circuit.

Once the user has set up, the cars and virtual racetrack of the player’s choice appear on the console screen, not unlike the classic Mario Kart game.

The official description from Nintendo reads: “The physical kart responds to impulses in the game and in the real world, stops when struck by an object and can be affected in different ways depending on the race.

“Players place doors to create a custom field layout in their home, where the only limit is their imagination. Compete against Koopalings in Grand Prix, unlock a variety of field customizations and costumes for Mario or Luigi, and play with up to four players in local multiplayer mode “.

Scheduled to launch on October 16, the game will be available in two varieties, Mario and Luigi, for £ 99 in the UK and $ 99 in the US.

This news comes as a surprise to fans, as Nintendo confirmed that it will be bringing back Super Mario 64.

The gaming giants announced that they will be re-releasing a number of classic games, including ‘Super Mario Sunshine’, ‘Super Mario Galaxy’ and ‘Super Mario 3D World’.

Nintendo’s Super Mario series turns 35 this year, are you feeling old yet?

“Defeated enemies will be sent to other players’ fields, but that also works the other way around! Players can activate special items to try to outmaneuver their opponents.”

Super Mario Bros. 35 will be available to play on Nintendo Switch on October 1 as a digital gift for online members.
