NBA 2K21 will officially launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Friday, September 4. That will mark the launch of the new MyTeam Limited mode.
Unlike the pre-existing MyTeam Unlimited, this new way of playing 2K card collector will only be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and each week, it will have different stipulations and limitations.
For opening week, the stipulations are as follows: Only one player in your roster can be a Ruby or higher. The remainder must be a sapphire or lower, and each player must be from a 2020 NBA Playoffs team. Lastly, you may not use any free agent cards in this event.
These stipulations shouldn’t place a huge restriction on most players, as hardly anyone will have a collection with tons of Rubies or more available. It’s good indoctrination in limited mode, which is essentially 2K’s answer to the salary cap concept.
The goal of each limited session is to win a championship ring. Every time you get a W, you have a chance to win a ring. There are a total of six rings that can be earned during MyTeam seasons (which is what the mode is based on this year from a calendar and content display standpoint) if you win all six rings, you get the prize associated with that season. .
As you can see below, this season’s prize is a Pink Diamond Ralph Sampson card.
