Abu Dhabi Cricket and the Zayed Cricket Stadium are taking all possible precautions to ensure that the preparation for the IPL 2020 runs smoothly.
Two teams, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, are based in the capital city and use the stadium for training and practice purposes.
Workers in full hazmat suits regularly disinfect the area and patrol the place where players have to practice. When one team leaves, the area is fully sprayed before the other is allowed in.
“The protection of players and staff is paramount,” said Matt Boucher, executive director of Abu Dhabi Cricket.

“Here are 16 new world-class turf net surfaces, which is an incredible proposition for us to offer to both the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
“We’ve also taken the liberty of including a full-size AstroTurf soccer field for all your aerobics and field exercises, and the ICC-accredited Tolerance Oval.”
The site is seen as an extension of the team’s hotel quarantine zone, such is the level of care taken to ensure the area remains sanitized.
“The entire airlift facility is completely private and exclusive for the use of the team. No one outside of the allowed team members can enter Zone 1, “said Boucher.

“It is a fully fenced and strictly monitored single access quarantine facility. Only practice team players and support staff can enter that site at any given time.
“We are very grateful to all relevant parties in the Abu Dhabi Government and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council for allowing our teams organized in Abu Dhabi to use this incredible private practice facility.”
The IPL is scheduled to begin on September 19. However, the tournament schedule has yet to be announced.
