Did Xbox Series X Dig Its Own Grave?

[ad_1]

The last few weeks have not been so kind to Xbox. Multiple leaks have hinted at the existence of the S Series, Halo: Infinite is delayed and people are already on the side of PlayStation. To add to its misery, Nvidia’s recent RTX 30 series GPUs have now made life even more difficult for the console giant. Confused? Let’s take a look at how exactly this works against Microsoft’s plans.

The Xbox Series X is considered the best console, compared to the PlayStation 5. It has better computing power and a much more advanced GPU than its rival. If this wasn’t enough, it also surprised fans with many exclusive titles to be released in the future. Everything was going great until Game Pass came on the scene

The Game Pass gives Xbox users access to a ton of different Xbox exclusives and other games. Surprisingly, Microsoft also announced that its Game Pass will also be available for PC users. This meant that all of the major exclusives coming to Xbox would also be available on PC soon. This is exactly where Nvidia’s latest announcement comes in.

Nvidia’s RTX 30 Series GPUs Threaten Xbox X Series

The RTX 30 series GPUs feature unholy computing prowess, at affordable prices. This was a shocking announcement considering the RTX 2080 Ti was priced at $ 1200. Now with these innovative and affordable GPUs, gamers can easily upgrade their systems. And with all the Xbox games available for PC, you won’t have to spend more to buy Series X to play them. watch this cheep from TweakTown editor Derek Strickland:

So the Game Pass service won’t work in favor of Series X? Phil Spencer has previously mentioned that Series X ‘is no longer the star of Xbox strategy’. But this does not mean that console sales are not important. The company may have outperformed the low sales of its Xbox One, compared to the PS4. But it seems like they are setting themselves up for the same failure again.

Another reason Series X may struggle is the lack of exclusive launch titles. Case in point: The Halo: Infinite delay. The announcement of the release of the title until 2021 was shocking, but not really unpredictable. The game was heavily criticized for its graphics, to the point where the developers admitted they had “work” to do. So with that out of the picture, Xbox doesn’t have any other big-name launch titles to back it up.

Microsoft may be in the long run with the X Series. But that doesn’t change the fact that their plans haven’t been exactly favorable. Phil Spencer and company must roll up their sleeves and get to work if they want to turn things around for them.

I love to play games of all kinds. You can usually find me casually teaming up with my team to play the most random games ever. Oh, and I also manage to write about those sometimes
