Internet search giant Google has announced several new features for its Google imagesthe company announced in a blog post. “These features will make finding the right image to use, as well as guidelines on how to license an image for your business or personal project, much easier than before,” Google said.
First, Google said it will make it easier for users to search for licensed images. For results where the publisher or creator of the image provided license information, Google will display a “licensable” badge on the image. Later, when a user selects a badge image to view, Google will display a link to the license details for the image, and if provided by the publisher, users will also find a link where they can purchase or license the image.
Second, the Google Images section will allow users to filter the results to show only those images that include license information. Google Images will allow users to select images that have Creative Commons licenses, or those that have commercial or other licenses, from the Google Images Use Rights drop-down menu. For any of the license types, users will be able to learn how to acquire a license for the image by clicking on the license details link provided.
“These updates are part of the changes we have made to Google Images in recent years to clarify who is the creator or copyright holder of the image,” Google said.
