Marvel’s Avengers is just a few days away and we know exactly when we can start playing.
Marvel Avengers Developer Crystal Dynamics has revealed pretty much all the remaining details about the game’s imminent release on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia. You may have already had a taste of what Avengers has to offer with the latest beta weekends, and the full game obviously offers a lot more.
You will have access to six heroes (Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow and Thor), playable in the campaign and in more than 80 War Zones and Drop Zones. Future, post-launch heroes like Hawkeye and new regions will be free to all players.

Marvel Avengers Unlock Times
Marvel’s Avengers essentially has two release dates, depending on which edition you choose. The $ 60 standard version launches on Friday, 4th of September. The most expensive versions, Deluxe Edition ($ 80), PlayStation Store Exclusive Digital Edition ($ 70) and Earth’s Mightiest Edition ($ 200), are unlocked three days earlier, on Tuesday, September 1.
This is how everything breaks.
Deluxe / PS Store Exclusive / Earth’s Mightiest Edition Unlock Times
The servers are activated at different times depending on the platform you choose and your region.
- PC (Steam): live all over the world in 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, 5 pm UK On September 1.
- PS4: midnight local time On September 1.
- Xbox One: midnight local time On September 1.
- Stadiums: live all over the world in 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, 5 pm UK On September 1.
Standard Edition Unlock Times
The unlock times are the same for the standard edition, just on a different day.
- PC (Steam): live all over the world in 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, 5 pm UK September 4.
- PS4: midnight local time September 4.
- Xbox One: midnight local time September 4.
- Stadiums: live all over the world in 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, 5 pm UK September 4.
Marvel’s Avengers Preload
Marvel’s Avengers is now available to preload on PS4 with a 56GB download size, but only for versions that unlock on September 1. PS4 players with the Standard Edition will be able to preload on Wednesday, September 2.
Neither developer Crystal Dynamics nor publisher Square Enix has said whether PC / Xbox One gamers will also be able to preload at some point. Generally speaking, the games offer preload on all platforms around the same time, but details about other platforms have yet to be revealed.
Marvel Avengers Day One Patch
Marvel’s Avengers has a day one update. It’s going to be around 18GB and everyone will need to download it. Those who went with a physical copy will be able to download the patch from September 1 onwards. If you own a digital copy, your download / preload will include the patch data by default, so you will be able to enter as soon as the servers go live.
The day one patch includes localization for multiple languages, as well as some fixes and changes based on beta feedback. You definitely don’t want to play without it.
Account Requirement for Marvel’s Avengers Square Enix Members
If you are going to play Marvel’s Avengers online, you will need a Square Enix member account. The same account is the one you will also use to redeem any pre-order bonuses and claim any future gifts.
If you previously had a Square Enix member account, or created one for beta, you should be fine for launch. The same account will be used with the full game, and it should already be linked to Steam / PS4 / Xbox One, as you used it with the recent beta.

Marvel’s Avengers pre-order bonuses
Marvel’s Avengers comes with a basic set of pre-order bonuses, regardless of platform and retailer. However, some retailers offer additional freebies that aren’t available anywhere else, and the same may be true for certain platforms.
Here’s what everyone gets by pre-ordering the game, regardless of edition, retailer, or platform:
- Five Marvel Legacy costumes: Captain America’s front line outfit. Iron Man Iron Man Suit. Black Widow Classic Stealth Suit. Asgard’s Thor’s Might outfit. Hulk Advance Suit. Mrs. Marvel’s Greater Good costume.
- Unique nameplate. Can be used with any hero.
