Sony is planning to port more of its original PlayStation games to PC in the future, it has emerged.
This nugget comes from the firm’s 2020 corporate report, in which Sony wrote: “We will explore expanding our proprietary titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability.”
As you no doubt know, this follows Sony recently introducing Horizon Zero Dawn to the PC, which was an important sign of the company’s intentions, although sadly that port had its serious problems.
Still, this is another promising comment from Sony for those PC gamers who are eager to get their hands on PlayStation exclusives (eventually, because of course the PC ports will be adequately lagged, no doubt).
Good fit
This follows comments from PlayStation’s Director of World Studies Hermen Hulst earlier this year, who appeased console fans by clarifying that Sony’s new policy would not be to port all of its own games, but only those that they make sense and are a good fit for PC.
Hulst said: “And perhaps to reassure some, releasing a first-hand AAA title for PC does not necessarily mean that all games will now come to PC. In my opinion, Horizon Zero Dawn was a perfect fit for this particular case. “
Clearly though, it would seem like other exclusives are coming to PC – it’s just a matter of which ones. Logically, it will be games that benefit the most from the capabilities of PC hardware, particularly on the control front, such as shooters (or action RPGs like Horizon Zero Dawn) using a mouse and keyboard.
