If you are wondering how something can look both large and small at the same time, then you are probably thinking of Xbox Series X.
Polish YouTuber Maniak Gaming posted a video of what appears to be a fictitious Xbox Series X prototype or unit compared to a full suite of current-generation gaming machines and consoles from yesteryear. And the Xbox Series X literally stands out from the rest.
The rectangular monolithic vertical square design of the Xbox Series X means that it looks more like a downsized PC than a traditional gaming console. While the likes of Xbox One and PS4 can be positioned vertically, you are more likely to find them sitting horizontally.
In comparison, the Xbox Series X is set up to be a console that will stand upright most of the time, likely due to its cooling system that draws in air from the bottom of the console and vents it through the top.
In the compassion video, Maniak Gaming shows how the Xbox Series X is taller than the PS4 (the slim model reviewed) and roughly the same height as an Xbox One S and Xbox One X. However, its tower-shaped design means that it is a much narrower in terms of width and depth than either of these consoles, which makes the tall gaming machine seem surprisingly compact.

Maniak Gaming also compared it to the Nintendo Gamecube, which is similar in size to the Xbox Series X. Only Microsoft’s next-gen console appears to be two and a half Gamecubes tall.
And compared to the original Xbox One, the Xbox Series X looks like a much smarter and slimmer machine; The first-gen Xbox One has the misfortune of looking like a chunky VCR, while its rival, the PS4, sported a sharp angular design that still looks good today.
Is the PS5 bigger than the Xbox Series X?
Ideally, we’d like to see how the Xbox Series X compares to the PS5, which is rumored to be a robust console.
The design of the PS5 has divided opinions, including ours here at Tom’s Guide. It’s arguably more interesting than the Xbox Series X design.
But the Microsoft machine has a fairly straightforward aesthetic that is almost elegant in its simplicity; we can imagine placing the console near or behind our television and not worrying about how it will look.
Regardless of what you think about the Xbox Series X or PS5 design, such a video only helps generate more buzz for next-gen consoles.
Both new systems are scheduled for launch in November. And with exhibits from games like Gamescom giving us a glimpse into what we can expect from them, the end of 2020 looks to be very exciting for game fans.
