During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, we saw a preview of the Doom Eternal The Ancient Gods expansion, Part One. Long story short: someone heard you hate the Marauder, so here’s two at once.
In an interview with PCGamesN, id Software Executive Producer Marty Stratton explained that it will be an expansion, he just didn’t use that beautiful word for some reason. What he said was, “We want the DLC to reach as many people as possible. In fact, you don’t even need to own Doom Eternal to buy the DLC and play.”
The director of the game, Hugo Martin, clarified that it will be a considerable experience. “Most people would associate the DLC with a smaller scope, it’s like the movie version made for television, and the movie was the main game,” he said. “For us, this is a lot like a two-part movie, it’s just as great as the main game was.”
The first part is due on October 20. As for the second part, “They are both part of the Year One Pass,” Stratton told PCGamesN. “So you can assume that they will both be within a year of their release.”
