The launch of Apple’s iPhone 12 range may be shrouded in mystery, but we now know that its price increases will be accompanied by an equally massive update.
In a new exclusive, top YouTuber Filip Koroy (aka EverythingApplePro) has teamed up with prolific leaker Max Weinbach to to reveal Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro Max will have the largest screen ever seen on an iPhone and the highest resolution. But he also has leaked images the device and it doesn’t look like everyone expected.
In addressing the display, Koroy claims that the iPhone 12 Pro Max will jump to a 6.7-inch, 2788 x 1284-pixel screen, versus the 6.5-inch 2688 x 1242 iPhone 11 Pro Max. Due to its larger size, the pixel density of the new phone will be the same as the iPhone 11 Pro Max (451ppi), while Koroy confirms that there will be no return for 3D Touch.
But what will really get Apple fans talking is the design of the new iPhone. Koroy has obtained real-world images of an iPhone 12 Pro Max PVT (Product Validation Test) model, the latest version of a device before it goes into mass production. And despite multiple rumors to the contrary, it shows that Apple will retain the same large notch that was first introduced with the 2017 iPhone X. There is also little evidence from the images that the range will have significantly slimmer bezels, for so the iPhone 12 Pro Max may be even bigger than expected, although 120Hz clearly still remains in the balance.
However, one thing that will be smaller is the box because Koroy shows material that reveals that Apple is updating the fast charger of the iPhone 12 range from 18W to 20W (as recently certified), but it will be “sold separately”. This move will keep prices low as Apple adds expensive new 5G modems to the iPhone 12 lineup, but it means users will have to pay more for phones that apparently won’t last as long.
Despite this, the iPhone 12 still seems ready to sell like hot cakes, thanks to a new chassis design, smart camera technology, and impressive performance. There’s a cheaper model on the horizon though, so keep this in mind when Apple finally launches these devices after tease after tease.
