The total of laboratory tests carried out within 24 hours is 2,650; of these two (2) of them are confirmed as positive for COVID-19 and the total number of confirmed cases to date is two hundred and sixty-three (263). Both cases confirmed as positive are Ethiopian males and are 24 and 33 years old. One of them is a resident of the Tigray region and a cross-border trucker and the other is from the Somali region (Jigjiga Quarantine Center).

Laboratory samples were collected from the Community, Non-Hotel Quarantine, Hotel Quarantine, Location of Contacts and Health Facilities.

Considering the increased transmission of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and the Ethiopian Institute of Public Health would like the public to strictly adhere to all precautionary measures. We must remember that each action we take determines the risk of contracting the virus. Thus. we should:

• Maintain physical distance

• Wash our hands with soap and water frequently.

• Stay home and avoid mass gatherings.

• Cover our mouth and nose with a cloth / face mask when going outdoors
