Call of Duty: Warzone has PC cheats in its sights with new “security update”

Call of Duty: Warzone is fighting cheats with a new security measure that will hopefully make life more difficult for those who want to spoil the fun for everyone.

Aimed specifically at PC gamers (cheating tends to be more prominent on PCs than consoles), developer Infinity Ward has added mandatory two-factor authentication for those using the free Warzone client.

Interestingly, 2FA is not required for those who access Warzone through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, meaning those who bought the game, meaning that Warzone will still be vulnerable to cheats.

And considering that PUBG, another game that’s also not free, is fraught with pitfalls, it might suggest that people who pay for games will still find a way to break the rules.

However, the news that cheats will have to jump over more obstacles before ruining everyone else’s enjoyment is welcome. We also recently found out that alleged Call of Duty: Warzone cheats will be forced to play each other, and in-game reporting measures will improve considerably.

Infinity Ward announced the new measures in a tweet, which you can see below.

It looks like cheating is on the rise as well, as Riot Games’ upcoming competitive first-person shooter Valorant is already riddled with hackers, despite the game only being in a closed beta.

Warzone has attracted more than 60 million players and is expected to be supported for many years, which is the first in Activision publisher’s annualized series. And there’s no sign that momentum is slowing down, with regular updates and upgrades falling every week.
