Slack is back online after an outage that lasted about two and a half hours on Tuesday night.
At 7:26 p.m. PT, the messaging application in the workplace said: “We have completely restored the service and everyone should be able to connect to Slack now.” Slack did not say what caused the blackout.
Slack first reported problems at 4:53 pm Pacific time, and said at the time that “users reported general performance issues such as failures and message timeouts.” At 5:02 pm Pacific Time, Slack updated the status and said, “Users cannot connect to Slack. We are investigating and will provide an update shortly.”
According to Downdetector, more than 5,000 users reported having trouble connecting to Slack shortly before Slack confirmed the issues.

Employees around the world in organizations like Business Insider trust Slack to communicate, organize tasks, and share information. During the outage, Downdetector’s live outage map showed a concentration of reports of Slack outages on the west coast of the United States, Japan, and Australia.
The timing of this disruption occurred when many people around the world are working remotely to try to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. Slack has rarely had interruptions that last that long. A power outage on July 29, 2019 lasted about an hour.
