From birthdays to family trips to graduations, my mother has always been there to offer an extra hand, marvel at life’s little joys, and be our rock to get through this moment. In this challenging time, many of us have been reminded that life, and especially parenting, rarely goes according to plan. Many mothers have been working tirelessly to help their families, workplaces, communities, and themselves, to overcome this crisis. And I know that many of you are separated from your families today, either because of physical estrangement or because your loved ones are essential workers, sacrificing this time to keep the rest of us safe. I am sure many of you would rather be away from home, spending this day with your mother or whoever plays that role in your life. I feel that too. So today I take time to communicate with the amazing mothers of my life: friends, mentors, aunts, the elderly, who may need a little extra love today. That includes many of you. From my family to yours, #HappyMothersDay “, – Michelle Obama
