PS5 could be crushed by Xbox Series X in price

The Xbox Series X is not only profiled to be more powerful than the PS5, it could also be cheaper. According to a new analyst prediction, Microsoft may suffer a loss on its next-gen next-gen console to undermine the PlayStation 5 by a significant amount this holiday season.

In a recent episode of Geoff Keighley’s Bonus Round (via Push Square), Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter predicted that Microsoft will target a price of $ 400 for the Xbox Series X, which could significantly reduce the $ 500 expected price of the PS5.

“From what I’ve seen, Sony will have to charge $ 500 for the PS5,” said Pachter. “Microsoft has a great balance. If they want to reduce the price by $ 100 … they will. I think they are waiting for Sony to blink first, and then they will reveal the price and the release date.”

Pachter continued, “Most likely sometime in November, most likely $ 400, and fans will get a lot out of their $ 400.”

If this scenario sounds familiar to you, it’s because the opposite happened at the beginning of the current generation of the console. At E3 2013, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox One would cost $ 500, in part because all consoles are bundled with the unfortunate Kinect camera. Just a few hours later, Sony revealed that the PS4 would cost $ 400, which played a huge role in giving PlayStation the initial lead and final victory in the current generation’s console warfare.

Peter Moore, a veteran of the gaming industry who helped lead the Xbox team through the era of Xbox and Xbox 360, agreed with Pachter’s predictions when he starred in the Keighley show.

“Microsoft right now, the stock price, the market cap … it’s all flying for them,” said Moore.

“Satya [Nadella] say, ‘this is the opportunity right now, like we did with Xbox 360, let’s go in, let’s fix it, let’s get the right content in there. Let’s take advantage of this global crisis right now because the thirst and appetite for these online experiences has never been so great. Let’s challenge Sony to hit $ 500. ‘ If I go back to my old job, that’s exactly what I’m doing. “

Neither Sony nor Microsoft have revealed the price of their new consoles yet, but we hope that will change soon. Sony is rumored to have a significant PS5 launch event on June 2, while Microsoft recently announced plans to release new Xbox X Series information in a series of monthly live Xbox 20/20 streams. With only a few months to launch for both consoles, the form of the next-gen console battle should be much clearer soon.
