In March, Google raised the limit for group video calls on Duo from eight to 12 participants at a time in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the Internet search giant has announced that it will allow Duo users to make group calls on the web, starting as a preview in Chrome.
Support for group calls in Chrome will be implemented in the coming weeks along with a new design that will allow you to see more people at the same time. Also, inviting people to join a group call will also be easier with an invitation link.
In addition, Google announced a new Family Mode, which allows you to scribble on the screen in real time while applying skins and effects to yourself. It will also hide the mute and call end buttons on the screen to prevent accidental touches during a video call, but you will need to sign in to Duo with your Google account in order to use Family Mode.
The skins and effects that are part of the family mode will be available for individual and group video calls for Android and iOS users. They will launch starting this week with a Mother’s Day effect.
