Blink and you’ll miss it, but Kirby is in the latest Fortnite trailer.
As GoNintendo discovered, Kirby appears in the opening seconds of the official Fortnite trailer for his recently released Party Royale mode. You can see the famous pink spot from Nintendo that appears on the background screen.
Curious! Even more curious is that Kirby is blurred in the equivalent video uploaded to the YouTube channels of Xbox and PlayStation. I imagine that a mind-numbing legal provision means that it must be so, but I asked Epic about it.
For some reason, the Fortnite video has not been uploaded to Nintendo’s YouTube channel. Poor Kirby!
So what’s Kirby doing in a Fortnite trailer other than, you know, having a good time? Is it a provocation that Kirby will soon appear in the greatest game on Earth? Or maybe just a fun Easter egg?
Maybe it’s a nod to the fact that Kirby and Fortnite have a story. In March 2019, a small Fortnite logo appeared on an official Nintendo wallpaper for the 3DS game Kirby’s Epic Yarn. Nintendo finally released this logo, but of course the Internet is never forgotten.
Kirby and Fortnite, then, the most unlikely bed partner. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a Fortnite mode where you can play as Kirby, absorbing everything that gets in your way. After all, Kirby Battle Royale is a real life video game.
