Diagnostic tests for the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus must be widely available, and barriers to testing must be low if the world wants to have an informed response to COVID-19. Being able to test in the midst of the current outbreak allows for specific and proportionate preparation and response; The tests will also be critical for monitoring critical points and future outbreaks.

Developing adequate testing capacity for the new SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus will require taking advantage of the latest advances in scientific and technological innovation, and depends on cooperation between industry, governments and international organizations.

This project is exploring partnerships and collaborations that allow:

· Innovative testing strategies, including the use of consumer connected devices and home testing

· Acceleration of laboratory tests in Africa as part of the COVID-19 response on the continent

· Unlocking restrictions in the supply chains of tests, materials, samples and personnel.

· Understand the implications of various regulatory approval pathways for testing

· Strategies for longer-term monitoring or surveillance and addressing of SARS-CoV-2 hot spots
