Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on his favorite player between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Mane and Salah are part of Liverpool’s famous top three, along with Roberto Firmino, and have played a leading role in helping the Reds advance to two wins to secure their first league title in 30 years.
In fact, the pair shared the Golden Boot last season with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal, as Jurgen Klopp’s team narrowly missed the league title.
And, having once again played an instrumental role this season, former Anfield defender Carragher was asked to choose one.
During a live Q&A on Instagram, Carragher said, “Salah or Mane? I am a Mane man.
“I am a huge admirer of Mane. He is my favorite Liverpool player.”
Carragher was later asked to compare Mane to Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch defender who has also enjoyed a sensational campaign.
“I think Virgil is Liverpool’s best player, but Mane is my favorite.”
Carragher also believes that Werner’s proposed transfer to Liverpool this summer could be canceled as clubs face chaos caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
RB Leipzig superstar Werner has long been singled out as a possible summer signing for Klopp, as the Germany international has seen his profile rise during a prolific season in front of goal.
The former Stuttgart striker scored 27 times in 36 games this season, including four in the Champions League, to make this his most impressive campaign against goal to date.
In fact, Klopp is believed to see Werner as a much-needed alternative to Firmino’s famous three Liverpool forwards of Firmino, Mane and Salah.
“Timo Werner to Liverpool?” Carragher questioned during a live Instagram question-and-answer session. “He seemed nailed before the situation we are in now, so it may affect transfers this summer.”
“It may have to come in the background, maybe next summer.”
