Prime Minister Abiy, Secretary Pompeo, reaffirms his commitment to combat COVID-19

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed spoke Monday with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the COVID-19 response and regional issues.

“Food security will be a key challenge for sub-Saharan Africa as the continent deals with the economic impact of the virus,” the prime minister tweeted, adding: “We discussed the application of collective leadership to minimize adverse effects.”

According to a statement issued by the US Department of State. Secretary Pompeo thanked Prime Minister Abiy and Ethiopian Airlines for their continued support in providing flights to US citizens stranded abroad by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Secretary and the Prime Minister also discussed the importance of the bilateral relationship between the US. USA And Ethiopia and emphasized the need for continued collaboration on key regional issues, the statement added.
