With millions of children out of school due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple on Thursday released a collection of 30 educational activities that take advantage of iOS technologies to teach young people a variety of useful lessons.
Known as “30 Creative Activities for Kids,” the program is designed to encourage and support learning at home for children ages 4-8, or pre-kindergarten through second grade.
Apple relies on integrated iPad or iPhone technologies to guide children through a series of challenges such as capturing time-lapse video, creating a comic strip, making cards, and more. Along with projects that yield tangible results, there are esoteric thinking puzzles, such as writing sentences and phrases with emoji characters.
Many activities take advantage of the iPad’s camera and its own applications. For example, Apple suggests making a simple storybook by adding photos and videos to a template in Pages, writing captions, and decorating each page with pictures.
Other projects involve recording audio messages with the Voice Memos app and sharing them via Messages or Mail, using the audio recorder in Garage Band to practice jump counting, creating a photo walk with Keynote, and asking Siri to tell a joke. .

Today’s activity list follows the March launch of the Apple Education Learning Series, a collection of videos that helps educators facilitate remote learning with Apple devices.
