China to Deploy Medical Experts in Zimbabwe

China is expected to deploy more medical experts to the South African nation of Zimbabwe to help combat the coronavirus pandemic, local media reported Monday.

“The arrival date has not yet been confirmed, but we hope to see you soon. Zimbabwe has been working very hard to contain the disease and we want to share the experience with Zimbabwe, ”said the Zimbabwe Mail website, quoting Zhao Baogang, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe.

After originating in Wuhan, China, last December, COVID-19 has spread to at least 185 countries and regions. Europe and the United States are currently the most affected regions.

The pandemic has killed more than 208,000 people worldwide, with a total of more than 3 million infections and some 879,000 in recovery, according to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

So far, Zimbabwe has reported four deaths from 31 cases of people who contracted the disease.
